Steering Wheel, re-sizing & repair

WHEEL MD by Jaxcars.net

Welcome to WHEEL MD by Jaxcars.net!

WHEEL MD by Jaxcars.net can take your original steering wheel, in this case a 55 Nomad wheel, remove the outer rim which measured 18" and installed a 16" rim in its place.  We then perform the body work to blend it altogether.  In the case of the Nomad, we use the horn ring as a guide and filled in the large factory gaps as well as make the horn button line up well with the center hub of the wheel for a cleaner look.  When done, no one can tell unless they really know the car well.

WHEEL MD by Jaxcars.net would be more than happy to perform this work for you.  We can modify or repair almost any wheel that is hard material, none of the soft plastic type wheels, please.  Contact us at WHEEL MD by Jaxcars.net.

Also visible in this shot, is a reworked "Hidden" audio remote unit that has been molded to fit the wheel.

Automotive Electrical Services

HOT WIRED by Jaxcars.net

Face it, when it come to the electrical system in our favorite older cars and trucks, they leave a lot to be desired, and the thought of sorting out our woes of non-working lights, powered windows that go down but not back up, gauges that simply do nothing, most people would rather visit the dentist then try to tackle repairs.

The same can be said with restoring our rides or even building a new hot rod, when it comes to installing a new wiring harness and making all those fancy powered gadgets work, most glaze over, get cold shivers and panic.

MGB CUSTOM LOWERING "A" ARMS

by Jaxcars.net

Starting in late 1974, the front ride height of our MGB’s was raised about an inch to meet US standards.  If you look closely at the two images below taken during our chrome bumper conversion, you can see the nose has dropped about one inch.
Picture
BEFORE Lowering "A" arms installed, note large gap above front tire.
Picture
AFTER Lowering "A" arms have been installed. Note clearance above the front tire.
There are replacement springs available to accomplish this, but as I was researching which ones to buy, nobody seemed to agree on the correct ride height and more important to me, how much any given spring would lower the front.  With time, springs will settle and change the height, so trying to compare to a new spring just doesn’t work.

So we came up with our own creative solution and modified the “A” arms.  The way the MG “A” arms are made there are two structural arms that form a triangle with a bolt in center section that supports the spring.  We simply flipped this support section by cutting out the spring perch and welding it back in upside down.  Doing it this way, we keep the original springs and can control how much the nose is dropped.

Jaxcars.net would be more than happy to build a set of Custom “A” arms for you.  We can modify your spring perch or provide a modified new replacement set ready to bolt in.  Please Contact us at Jaxcars.net to work out details of how we can improve your MGB.
